Normally, I shoot all of the photos you see on my blog unless stated otherwise. Last year, while I shot our family photos I realized that it is only going to become more and more challenging, which it did especially once Lucy started walking. Last month we finally did it, I finally went ahead and hired a legit photographer to take family photos of the three of us, and this was the best decision we made.
Late last year, I came across an Instagram page of Karina Santos, a San Deigo photographer and I instantly loved her work. Her style was so fresh and fun, but what really drew me to her was how her personality shined through all her posts/photos. It felt so genuine. I had a big feeling she was going to make us all feel very comfortable while having our photos taken. Karina was the sweetest person ever I absolutely loved her. We had so much fun throughout our entire session that it truly felt like I was hanging out with a friend the whole time rather than with someone we hired. Lucy did so well with her too, it was all so perfect.
We had our photos taken at Martial Cottle Park, I had never been there prior and it was a perfect location for the theme we were going for. The theme we decided on for the session was a rustic cottage core picnic in the middle of land and trees. This park even had the perfect picked fence that we used for a backdrop. The setup was so beautiful! We had picked up several fresh flowers from baby's breath, camomile, hydrangeas, and peonies all some of my favorite flowers. The bright pink peonies made for the perfect pop of color. I brought wooden baskets that were filled with fresh flowers and a few of Lucy's hand-knitted dolls from Cuddle and Kind. I also brought from of Lucy's books that went with the esthetic of the shoot along with some strawberries. The strawberries were a major hit with Lucy, immediately she started chowing down on them and made quite the mess but it was a joy watching her enjoy herself.
I will probably say this with every new photoshoot we do, but these photos from this session are by far my favorite photos ever. It was extremely nice being able to enjoy the session and just be in them rather than trying to also take the photos. It's so challenging trying to be in two places at once with a toddler. I've already told Rudy I want to continue hiring Karina for all our future shoots, she was so wonderful to work with and I'm so happy to have made a new friend.
Alright, enough of me rambling here are a "few" of my favorite photos. Honestly, I could have shared a lot more but this post would have been way too long. I really hope you enjoy!
