Whether it may be about how I style it, my color (it's natural by the way), or what kind of products I use. As time goes by, the products I use tend to change for one reason or another so because of that today I'm going to share yet another updated hair care routine with you guys. In my past hair care posts, I've gone a lot more in-depth with the back story of my hair journey and how I brought it back to its healthy stage, how many times per week I actually wash, and how often I heat style my hair. All of that still remains the same so if you haven't read any of those previous posts I'll just leave the link right here for you to check it out. In this post, I'm going to dive straight into the products I've been using on my hair for the last six months or more. I am currently using the Love Beauty & Planet murumuru butter and rose blooming shampoo and conditioner. This is a cruelty-free, paraben free, silicone free shampoo and conditioner. They're both vegan and safe for color treated hair. The conditioner is also phthalate free. Both shampoo and conditioner are infused with organic coconut oil. The shampoo gently cleanses your hair and moisturizes for healthy glossy hair. While the conditioner works similar in moisturizing your hair, it also corrects detangling. These two really helps with leaving my hair feeling super soft and healthy, but one of my favorite things about it is the rose scent. I'm a huge fan of anything rose scented and these two smell amazing. I spoke about Maple Holistics in a past currently post and on my last updated hair care routine post. At that time I was really enjoying their Tea Tree shampoo they sent me. Recently, the company reached out to me once again asking if I'd be interested in giving their new shampoo a try. Of course, I said yes since the Tea Tree shampoo did wonders to my hair. I have really been enjoying this new shampoo, I just love how clean their shampoos make my hair and scalp feel. Silk18 contains a blend of eighteen silk amino acids that help support hair follicles and strengthen and protect hair from split ends, dryness, breakage, and damage. The gentle formula cleanses dandruff and it even protects against fallouts. My hair is left feeling fresh but never stripped. Argan and jojoba oils are infused into this formula which leaves your hair soft and shiny. Lastly, Silk18 is a sulfate and paraben-free shampoo.

As soon as I am done washing my hair, I like to lightly towel dry it then I'll leave it wrapped in the towel for about ten minutes or so. I only use a very tiny bit of this oil because a little goes a very long way. Through the year I have gone through a couple other dry shampoos but this is still the one I always reach for the most and end up going back to. It does such a fantastic job at absorbing all of the oils on my hair. It leaves it looking fresh and clean, that's one thing I demand in a dry shampoo is that it leaves my hair looking clean. No Drought smells great just like fresh clean lemons and won't weigh my hair down. It actually gives me some volume after I work it into my hair. Past dry shampoos even left my hair feeling more dirtier and with some build up on the roots. No drought checks off everything I'm looking for in a dry shampoo. It also helps to prevent future damage. I apply this to dry hair, then comb out my hair and leave it in a braid overnight or even a few days until the next time I wash my hair. It's been well over a year since I shared my previous hair care routine and since then, nearly every single product in that post has changed. I enjoy changing up my products from time to time and changing the products also had a lot to do with me transitioning to cruelty-free items. As my products began to run out I began searching for a cruelty-free item to replace the old ones. Apart from the new products, not much else has changed. I wash my hair one to two times a week, and I only apply heat to my hair 2-3 times a week at most. So without further ado, here is my updated hair care using all cruelty-free products.

Fair warning, I will be sharing a lot of Lush items. This isn't sponsored by them, however, it should be haha.

I am going, to begin with, shampoo. I've been using the I Love Juicy shampoo from Lush for a few months now and I love it. It smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling soft, squeaky clean, and adds a bit of volume to my roots. Like I mentioned I only wash my hair 1-2 times a week so I only use I Love Juicy once a week. When I'm not using this shampoo I use the following.

On my latest currently post I spoke about a shampoo that was sent to me a couple months ago, a Tea Tree Oil shampoo (not pictured). When I'm not using I Love Juicy I'm using this shampoo and I love how much it's helped with the growth of my hair. This shampoo is completely natural and has so many amazing benefits, I highly recommend it. If you're curious to find out more about it please check out that post. I spoke a lot more about it and there is even a sample offer including a free full-sized item for anyone who's interested.

After shampoo that's when conditioner comes in. After rinsing off I Love Juicy, once a week I use the Veganese conditioner that is also from Lush. The first time I used this I wasn't too sure how I was going to like it. The texture of the conditioner is very light-weight and my hair would absorb it immediately leaving me to think I needed more product to disperse to the rest of my hair. Once I rinsed off my hair I felt an immediate difference. My hair was so velvety soft and with time I realized I really didn't need much product at all. This is the perfect light-weight conditioner for those of you who get very oily hair. I never worry if I applied too much to my hair and if it will end up leaving my hair looking greasy either.

At least once a week I apply a hair mask to my hair and always leave it on overnight. I honestly can't remember if I received this in an Ipsy bag or Boxycharm, anywho I have been using the Project Beauty Hairgurt smoothing yogurt hair masque. This hair 'masque' smells of strawberry banana and it's just so lovely. It leaves my hair feeling extremely soft, hydrated and helps tame frizzy hair. I love the consistency of this mask because it isn't too thick or wet feeling. It applies great and evenly to my hair and it's not oily at all. My hair absorbs it perfectly so I don't ever worry about it leaving any residue on my pillows. In the past, I have used hair masks that are too heavy for my hair and then following day when I rinsed it off it left my hair flat from over conditioning it. Hairgurt
doesn't do that to my hair I always look forward to using this. I feel that adding a hair mask to my routine and allowing it to stay on my hair overnight (or more than one night...) has really helped maintain my hair looking and feel healthy.

Everyone should always make sure to use a heat protectant on their hair, especially before using heat products. First, I spray the Briogeo Rosarco milk onto my hair. This spray is a reparative leave-in conditioning spray that helps combat dryness, restoring shine, strengthens hair from root to tip, and also acts as a heat protectant. So many amazing benefits from this lightweight leave-in conditioner. It also smells amazing!

After I use the spray I use a quarter sized drop of the Briogeo Rosarco blow dry perfection & heat protectant crème all throughout my hair. I know it's probably totally not necessary and a bit excessive to use both these products one after another on my hair but I like to. I try to protect and nourish my hair as much as I can. This crème has a few different benefits from the rosarco milk. It smooths the hair, enhances shine, tames frizz, and helps prevent split ends. I definitely see and more than anything feel a difference in my hair after using these products. I love that Briogeo products are also lightweight and I won't have to worry about it weighing down my hair. I definitely want to try out more of their products possibly even their shampoo and conditioner. Their hair mask is next on my list!

Once my hair is styled (curled) sometimes I use a hairspray to hold everything in place. I originally purchased this Sea Spray hair mist solely for the purpose to add volume to my hair. However, it ended up being a multi-purpose spray which worked out great. I use this as a hairspray to hold my curls and it smells amazing! Sometimes I use it to add a bit more volume to my second or third day old hair, but I've just been loving the way my hair hold up when I spritz this all through my hair for hold. I love that it also leaves a healthy shine on my hair without making it look oily.

I didn't include an oil in the photo because I don't have a special oil I use. Most days after styling my hair I like to use a couple of drops of any hair or multi-use oil only on the ends of my hair. That helps give back a bit of moisture from using any previous heat tools. Once again it also leaves a healthy shine on my hair and I love that look.

Lastly, is dry shampoo and I have been using No Drought from Lush for well over two years, maybe even three. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this product. Love how well it works at absorbing all oils that are left in my hair. It smells great of fresh clean lemons, it gives me a bit of volume after using it, and I find it to last a long time (and I use this a lot!). I hate the packing! This is a bottle of loose powder so when you use it you simply pop open the cap and sprinkle it on top of your head. So believe me when I say this can get messy. Besides that one con, this product is amazing! Since I don't wash my hair often I use a lot of dry shampoo and this has been my absolute favorite. I always recommend it to everyone.

Have you tried any of these items? What are some of your favorite hair products?

{"$t":"Juliana
$t":"http://www.blogger.com/profile/09410637408830790715
$t":"noreply@blogger.com"},"gd$image":
//blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinw98N1LY4v8SvYbQE7_w8QZkoJjgkTZuMxaLciiTGhqEIOsYZtOXCNr7YQTC05lz_vPv4_jABDfn8oJ2giVQ_04s9i77G94gU9ZaprRtLepq-xmeSbo8krD2DNsPoZT0/s113/ACS_0224.JPG"}}],"media$thumbnail":{"xmlns$media":"http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/
https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dP5zbyWUZIU/WV1N9CFQvII/AAAAAAAAErU/ADqWkmcJkroF_bJefi6DdwqSs_-d9mQ0gCLcBGAs/s72-c/IMG_4985.JPG
72
72"},"thr$total":{"$t":"6
$t":"tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-400672302414468518.post-743478404083853876
$t":"2016-08-09T12:23:00.000-07:00
$t":"2019-01-13T14:38:28.573-08:00
"$t":"Pros & Cons Of Having A Fringe
html","$t":"

Ever since I was about five years old I loved fringes. All the girls in my elementary class had the typical short or long hair style with straight across bangs and I envied them. As a kid I wanted to have bangs myself and have the same hair style as everyone else. Even my sister had them but for some reason my mom never styled my hair that way. I already felt so different from everyone because I was the only red head in the entire school. That being said I remember going into my grandmas bathroom and I cut my own bangs and as soon as I was 'done' I immediately regretted it. It looked so horrible plus this was a maybe six year old trying to cut hair straight. From that day I came to terms that maybe a fringe just wasn't for me. Years later, I still loved how bangs looked and how good they looked on so many girls. It wasn't until last summer that the thought of cutting mine sparked up again. I thought long and hard about possibly chopping my bangs. At the time I had my hair parted down the middle and my bangs were as long as the rest of my hair so it was a bit of a scary thought to chopped them so short. Like most people when they are contemplating a change they worry whether the change will look good on them or not. I threw the idea to Rudy and a lot of my friends to have as many opinions as I could get and everyone was on board with me. I made an appointment got rid of the ombré I had going on and chopped off my bangs and I don't regret it one bit!

This has become a long intro already. I constantly get people complimenting my bangs and hair all the time along with them telling me that I make them want to get bangs themselves. Even though I absolutely love having my fringe there are some things that are annoying about them. Today I want to share with you guys some pros and cons of having a fringe before you decide to chop off your hair. These are all just my opinions.

Pros:

- Plain and simple they're cute!

- I think bangs looks really good styled with a top bun. In the past I would just have my hair pushed back which I always thought it look like something was missing or I looked naked.

- They are so easy to style! Comb and straighten, and you're ready to go!

- They really can make a look. Like I said before I had bangs I used to have a middle part and my bangs were as long as the rest of my hair. So many times I felt my hair was boring. Now with bangs it's a completely new look.

- Bangs can make you look youthful and who doesn't want to look young for as long as they can?

- Since your bangs cover your forehead you don't have to put make up there. I guess you can also kind of save a little on makeup with that which is a pro.

- If you have a zit on your forehead, guess what? Your bangs will hide them!

- Depending on the length of your fringe you don't have to worry too much about your eyebrows looking perfect since they can be covered.

- If you ever change your mind about having bangs they usually grow pretty fast.

Cons:

- With having cute bangs during hot days you can get a sweaty forehead which isn't fun.

- I have noticed that my bangs get oily so quick and faster than the rest of my hair. Shout out to dry shampoos, my new best friend.

- On hot days and when my bangs are a little longer than usual they rub on my eyebrows causing my brows to smudge!

- When I shower I need to use lots of bobby pins to hold them down if I'm not washing my hair. Which let's be honest I rarely do.

- I find it so hard to separate my bangs together from the rest of my hair once I'm done washing it and that bothers the crap out of me!

- They grow way too quick!

- My bangs are more high maintenance than I am. I literally have to get weekly trims if I want to keep them at the perfect length. So if you go get your bangs cut at a salon it can get expensive. I now cut mine myself.

- When my fringe is long they start poking my eyes.

- Either when my fringe is oily or too long I get random gaps in them and that drives me crazy.

There will always be cons to anything but in this case I think the pros outweigh them. I've been there just like many of us. I have natural red hair and I now love it. That wasn't always the case however, back when I was a in elementary school I used to hate my red hair because it was different from everyone else. I was a really shy kid and my hair being so different would grab a lot of attention. I hated that I just wanted to be like everyone else and have brunette hair.

Let's go back in time real quick to my high school years. I began dying my hair when I was in 8th grade in middle school and by the end of my Senior year in High School 2007, I was so tired of constantly my hair. I had been debating about going blonde so I decided to try that myself, I mean how hard can that be. I was a kid that knew nothing about hair! I always did everything myself which is the biggest mistake I made. I would bleach my own hair and like usual while bleaching your hair it can tend to turn a very orange copper/brassy shade. So when the blonde didn't magically appear I would be unhappy and would dye it dark again and repeat that whole process the following weekend. I had no idea that becoming a blonde came with a process.

The last month of my senior year I decided I just wanted to go back to my natural red hair so I can finally give my hair the long break it had been begging for. At that point my hair was dry like a broom. One day I had gone into the hair salon and the owner was horrified at how damaged my hair was and even refused to touch it. So once again I decided to do the whole process myself. I honestly don't know how I got my hair light enough that I was able to dye it red but somehow I did and my hair was done! It was so short maybe about a inch below my chin. I couldn't even brush it because whenever my hair was dry it would just break. Tons of breakage everywhere. When my hair was wet it was a stretchy stringy feeling that even just my running my fingers trough my hair it would break off in chunks. It literally would look like confetti every time I would try to brush my hair. Not to mention it was so unhealthy that it would literally take hours for it to full dry. I would wash my hair at night sleep with it down and have a towel over my pillow and the next morning my hair was still damp. I swore to myself that after that I would never touch my hair again. Year and years later my hair finally grew out completely and now it's the healthiest it has ever been. Granted that came with tons of hair trims. Seven years later was when I finally decided to color my hair again.

It wasn't until April of 2014 that I bleached/dyed my hair again and this time I decided to leave it to the professionals. I felt it was time for a small change and I was so scared of putting any products on my hair again let alone bleach. I swore I would never dye my hair entirely since I would hate to deal with the roots growing out so I ended up getting a blonde ombré and I loved it. I had this hair style for 8 months when I decided I wanted to add a little bit of color to my hair. I went from having a blonde ombré to a silver lavender. Since color dye doesn't damage your hair I started to dye my purple ombré myself at home to a darker violet shade. Then eventually months later when I was over the purple may hairstylist did my ombré a silver/grey. Now as of today I am back to my natural hair color and loving it. It was nice having different colored hair for a while but I now plan on sticking to my roots. Each time I had my hair done it was with months in-between. I made sure to let my hair relax so I wouldn't damage it. I also made sure to always take really good care of my hair as I was prior to dying it again.

(Top Left: Sept. 2014, Top Right: Feb. 2015, Bottom Left: May 2015, and Bottom Right June 2015.)

(October 2015)

Alright this has become a really long intro but I wanted to share a little background on my hair how damaged it was and how I rescued it before I shared how I now take care of my hair. Ever since I damaged my hair I try to do the most in order to keep my hair looking its best. In the past 2-3 years I have really tried to focus on my hair care and it shows. The first time I met my hair dresser she told me in advance that my hair may become a bit and clearly damaged since we were going to bleach it (we had to bleach it twice to get it that light.) Once she was all done she was shocked at how healthy my hair still was and I told her I take pride on my care of my hair. I am now going to share exactly what products I use to keep my hair looking as great as can be. I don't like to spend too much money on one so I try to keep it simple. I like to use Head and Shoulders every other hair wash just because I feel that one really deep cleans my hair and roots very well. When I am not using that I'm currently use the OGX Thick and Full biotin & Collagen shampoo and conditioner. I used to use this all the time before I got my ombré but since I had blonde in my hair I had to start using purple shampoo. Since January I began using this again and I forgot how much I loved it. This shampoo is suppose to help strengthen your hair along with thickening and it does exactly that. When I am rinsing off my shampoo I already feel a difference. This is the same shampoo I was using like I said before I got my hair done and my hair dresser said my hair was very healthy and strong. I really like this brand and I also own the Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil shampoo and conditioner. I was also switching off using this product before I added the blonde to my hair. Some people may think that is gross, I did too but that is what's best for your hair. Many people don't know that if you're constantly washing your hair you are stripping your hair from it's natural oils that your hair needs. I used to wash my hair every other day because my hair would get really oily fast and that was why it gots so oily quick because I was over washing your hair. By washing your hair frequent you are making your hair over produce oils because it's always being stripped of the natural ones. It is hard to stop washing it often at first like I said I used to have to wash my hair so often but try using dry shampoo that will be your best friend. Or do what I used to do, first day of my freshly washed hair I'll wear it straight for maybe two days. By the third day I'll have it curled for another couple of days. By the end of the week I am wearing my hair up in a bun. This really works and I always tell all my friends to give it a try. Doing this will really make your hair become much more healthy in the long run.

Hair Mask: As often as I can I like to use a deep hair conditioner. I throw my hair up in a towel while I get dressed. Then once I am all done I will remove my towel brush my hair and add this. I then will either braid my hair or toss it up in a bun and leave it on for a hour or over night. The next day I rinse it off and then my hair is so soft! I always recommend this conditioner to everyone that is facing hair problems such as any damages or dryness. This product is the Total Repair 5 which claims to repair one years worth of damage in one use. I'm not too sure if it does all that but I definitely do see a improvement with using this. I absolutely love this product ever since the first time I used it! I felt such a huge difference after I blow dried my hair it was incredibly soft and silky. I don't have a favorite I will use any that I have closest to me and these are currently the three I have been rotating with. I've been getting some from Ipsy and these last me a long time since I only use a couple of drops. I add about a penny sized drop and lather it up on my hands and lightly comb it through the ends of my hair with my fingers. I even add a very tiny bit to the ends of my bangs just so they won't be too voluminous. I like doing this to hydrate my ends since they are the hairs that have been on your head the longest and have endured the most heat and damage. This also helps control the frizz on my hair along with the volume from its being freshly styled with the heat tools along with it a healthy shine. I make sure to never add any oil near my roots because that will only make my hair look oily.

The middle product, Moroccan Argan Oil, is the same shampoo I used that I mentioned earlier. I didn't think it was worth buying any of those expensive ones because they all do the same thing right? Wrong! I learned that the hair brush you use can actually damage your hair by causing lots of unnecessary breakage and that was exactly what was happening to me! I heard some great reviews on this hair brush 'Wet Brush' that it doesn't pull on your hair and really helps detangle your hair without breaking so I quickly went out to pick it up at Target. My hair would break so much and very easily every time I brushed my hair no matter how gentle I would be or how straight it was. Since owning this I have noticed my hair doesn't even come close to breaking like it did before which is probably why I have seen such significant growth in my hair. I heard this is meant to use for when your hair is wet but I use it when its wet or dry and still works wonders. I definitely recommend this brush to everyone. This is probably the only hair brush I will use unless I find something even better. They also sell different brushes depending on your hair type too! There is one for everyone.

The bottom peach hair brush is from the brand 'Diane' which I picked up recently at Ulta. I wanted to share that I don't use hot tools on my hair often. A year ago I probably did almost to everyday but now I do 2 times a week at the most and thats not every week either only if I'm going somewhere and need to look more presentable. Typically I blow dry my hair to straighten out my hair and get rid of any frizz. The following day I curl or straighten my hair and leave it that way until my next wash. My curls usually last on my hair for a few days. If I decide to straighten my hair I may end up curling it a couple days later and thats a big maybe only if I am going to go somewhere. On regular days I don't do anything to my hair and if I don't heat style my hair at all I will wear my hair up in my typical milkmaid braids or a bun. I always wished I had someone to tell me how to take better care of my hair but its true what they say "you live and you learn".

XO

Juliana
{"$t":"Juliana
$t":"http://www.blogger.com/profile/09410637408830790715
$t":"noreply@blogger.com"},"gd$image":
//blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinw98N1LY4v8SvYbQE7_w8QZkoJjgkTZuMxaLciiTGhqEIOsYZtOXCNr7YQTC05lz_vPv4_jABDfn8oJ2giVQ_04s9i77G94gU9ZaprRtLepq-xmeSbo8krD2DNsPoZT0/s113/ACS_0224.JPG"}}],"media$thumbnail":{"xmlns$media":"http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2iQV7bXdJ98/V7M3zR5MnuI/AAAAAAAACoM/CEz5pWlSx6c/s72-c/blogger-image--53402905.jpg
72
72"},"thr$total":{"$t":"4
$t":"tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-400672302414468518.post-3970555329765678458
$t":"2016-05-05T09:17:00.000-07:00
$t":"2016-11-29T10:01:59.731-08:00
"$t":"My Go To Hair Style: Milkmaid Braids
html","$t":"

I don't really like to use too many heat tools on my hair and because I try to keep it as healthy as I possibly can. With that I've been wearing my hair up as much as possible to avoid all heat. For the past few months this hair style has been my go to and I've been rocking it a ton. I am talking about the milkmaid braids. I get so many compliments on it along with questions as to how I achieve it. I've debated for a while if I should do a post on this or not because I find this hair style to be very basic and super easy especially if you know how to do a braid. I figured many people may not know how to do it or are interested to see how I do mine. I am finally going to show how I achieve my milk braid hair style or "Princess Leia" like I call it ha ha. Once again it's super easy!

-I like to start off with combing my hair really good to remove any knots.
-I then part my hair right down the middle from where my bangs begin all the way to the back of my neck. Try to make it as straight as you can I usually have a mirror in front and side of me so I can see what I'm doing.
-I brush my hair to make sure there is no stray hairs. Tie one side of the hair so it won't get in the way while you are braiding.
-I make a standard braid I'm not good at describing this at all but I'm sure you can find tutorials on it on Youtube. Then I braid the other side.
-I like to tug on small strands of the braid to make the braid look a lot fuller. I do this from the ends of my hair all the way to the roots. Be careful not to tug too much.
-Once your hair is at your preferred fullness I wrap it around my head and I like to have it right next to where my bangs start. You can have yours where ever you like.
-Bobby pin away! How many bobby pins I use varies each time. I also try to apply them in a way you won't be able to see them. Try to have them hidden within your hair.
-Grab you other braid and I like to wrap this one kind of over the first one that you already have bobby pinned down. Try to cover the end of the first braid along with covering the rubber band.
-Then I tuck the very end where the rubber band is on the second braid underneath the first braid. This can be difficult sometimes but you can use your bobby pins to set them in place.
-Once you're done securing your braid with your bobby pins I once again like to tug on certain pieces of the braid to make the braid look a little more fuller.
-Hair spray your hair and you're done!

Xo
Juliana

{"$t":"Juliana
$t":"http://www.blogger.com/profile/09410637408830790715
$t":"noreply@blogger.com"},"gd$image":
//blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinw98N1LY4v8SvYbQE7_w8QZkoJjgkTZuMxaLciiTGhqEIOsYZtOXCNr7YQTC05lz_vPv4_jABDfn8oJ2giVQ_04s9i77G94gU9ZaprRtLepq-xmeSbo8krD2DNsPoZT0/s113/ACS_0224.JPG"}}],"media$thumbnail":{"xmlns$media":"http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-AbZD1lyGHp0/VyqGzz-4C0I/AAAAAAAAB8g/w8N4TeVoLbw/s72-c/blogger-image-1671562287.jpg
72
72"},"thr$total":{"$t":"8"}}]}});
